Daily Defense 1-40: Summer Concealed Carry
Just like winter EDC, summer daily carry presents its own challenges. Light summer clothing may require you to carry a smaller gun just because you don't have many places to conceal it. You may choose to make compromises in your choice of clothing, but it IS important to be comfortable. You don't want to be roasting in the hot summer sun, and you can't take your jacket off because it would expose your pistol! Light, thin summer fabrics mean a greater risk of your gun "printing" - its outline showing through your clothing. An off-body method of carry may be the best option. It's pretty hard to conceal a gun when you're wearing only swimming trunks and flip flops, so you may need to carry your gun in a backpack. Improvised weapons may factor heavily in your summer EDC plan, for times when you're just not able to carry your gun. Heat tends to make us sweat,+ and perspiration is NOT a friend of firearms. The problem isn't only the moisture but also the corrosive chemicals that are in sweat. You'll likely have to clean your gun more often, and make sure you apply the rust preventive oil regularly.
