New Products from SIG Sauer, KNS Precision & Brownells

Brownells new product guru Paul Levy kicks off this week's show-and-tell with the SIG Sauer Cross STX bolt action rifle optimized for PRS competition. One of the many benefits of the Cross is its lightweight aluminum receiver and slim-profile folding stock that make it easy to carry. It's just as comfortable to shoot. The smooth-as-silk two-stage trigger has a light, very clean break to help you take advantage of the Cross's tack-driving accuracy. You can chamber a fresh round lightning fast via the short-throw bolt with an easy-to-grasp oversized knob. Once that round is in the chamber, the tri-lug bolt gives an ultra-secure, consistent lockup.

 

The Cross STX uses AICS-pattern magazines, and it comes with one Magpul PMAG AC 10-round mag that you can easily drop for a fast reload via the ambidextrous mag release. The ambi safety lever sits nicely under the thumb and has a radiused "shelf" on top that you can use as a thumb rest. The pistol grip fills the hand comfortably and has the vertical rake preferred by many PRS shooters. The integral M-LOK® handguard has acres of optic / NVG mounting real estate on the monolithic M1913 Picatinny rail. The folding stock offers a LOT of adjustability, and once you get it set up exactly the way you want it, you can lock in your settings so the stock fits perfectly every time you shoulder your Cross STX.

 

For Kalashnikov fans, the Adjustable AK Gas Piston from KNS Precision lets you control the amount of gas flow, so you can choose a balance between high gas flow for reliable cycling versus lower gas flow for gentle cycling and a more gradual recoil impulse. It replaces the factory piston on your AK's carrier, and has an adjustment ring that lets you vent gas out of the piston, so you can control the carrier's velocity. The good news is that KNS produces models for all of the popular AK-47 / AK-74 variants, and maybe some of the less common ones, too.

 

A Brownells Premium Lightweight AR-15 Barrel will help keep your AR from being front-heavy and make it easier to handle. The .223 Wylde chamber and 1-8" rifling ensure these barrels can shoot a wide variety of .223 Remington AND 5.56 NATO ammo. Outside, there's a durable phosphate finish, while the chrome-lined chamber and bore ensure excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. These barrels come in a variety of lengths, all with standard 1/2"-28 tpi muzzle threads, M4 feed ramps on the barrel extension, and an extended gas journal that'll accept almost any gas block or front sight tower currently available. EACH Premium Lightweight Barrel is high-pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected to make sure it won't leave the factory (and end up on your rifle) with hidden flaws that could shorten its service life.
