New Products: Colt, Daniel Defense & Manson Precision

Here's something that'll warm the hearts of wheelgun fans everywhere! Our favorite director of product management, Paul Levy, shows us the new Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver with a 5" barrel. Pythons have always been available with 4" or 6" barrels but never in this handy, effective 5" length. Like all new Pythons, this one comes in gloss stainless steel, with comfy wrap-around Walnut grips with the traditional Colt medallion. The rest is classic Python: single-action / double-action operation (SA-DA), the pull-to- rear cylinder latch, vent rib over the barrel, target sights (adjustable rear), and that smooth, SMOOTH Python action.

 

For AR-15 fans, Paul has three new upper receivers from Daniel Defense, all of them available EXCLUSIVELY from Brownells. They come fully assembled, minus the parts most folks want to customize: charging handle, bolt-carrier group, and muzzle device.

 

There's a MK18 upper with a 10.3" barrel and the new RIS III handguard sporting an M1913 Picatinny rail on top and SEVEN full-length rows of M-LOK® slots. The M-LOK® handguard really cuts down on the weight and bulk of this upper, while offering a vast expanse of accessory mounting real estate. The attachment of the RIS III to the receiver is the definition of "rock solid." It has anti-rotation tabs, and the attachment bolts pull the handguard tight to the front of the receiver. This 'guard ain't gonna shift on you!

 

There's also an M4A1 upper with a 14.5" barrel and the RIS III handguard, as well as a 14.5" M4A1 with the older, quad-Picatinny railed RIS II handguard, robust old-style A2 front sight tower, and a fixed (but detachable) A1-style rear sight. Daniel Defense certainly gives the AR-15 builder lots of options. But remember, the only place to get these uppers is Brownells.

 

Finally, for you folks who want to convert an AR-308 rifle to the new 8.6 Blackout cartridge, the good folks at Manson Precision have released a set of GO / NO-GO headspace gauges. Think of the 8.6 Blackout as the .300 Blackout's big brother - VERY BIG. You want to be very certain the headspace is safe on any conversion you do.
