SINCLAIR INTERNATIONAL - SINCLAIR CASE NECK SORTING TOOL

This tool is perfect and as advertised. Works great for the highpower (think gas-gun) reloader who wants to segregate brass into mid or long range brass, short range brass and "practice" brass. You really get to know your cases (best at the start with new cases) when using the tool. WIN cases are very consistent, but I found that it was quite easy to segregate into "less than .002" for my mid-range (600yd) brass, "between .003-.004" for my short-range (200-300yd) brass and anything more than that into the "practice" bin. Also, when you get that funky feel about a particular case, while prepping cases or whatnot, you can run it through the dial and see what's up. Perfect for anyone who isn't turning necks. As described by Sinclair and others, funky thickness variations in the brass at the case neck may say allot about the rest of the case. Perfect tool with the indicator that comes with it for this type of application.

You have a good tool, now you need to make it a GREAT tool! Solid base and frame that does not move around on the bench while using it. Dial indicator angled correctly for easy viewing. Rod fits different sized flash holes with ease. Easy to set up and use. Much easier and quicker to use than a ball micrometer. Now to make it a GREAT tool you need additional sized pilots other than the standard ones offered. Example, the standard 30 measures 0.298 inches, that is way too loose in a sized cartridge and results in inaccurate, sloppy and unstable reading. I purchased additional standard 32 pilots and turned them down to fit my sized cases. Slop removed and very stable readings. You need to offer pilots with dimensions of 0.307, 0.306, 0.305 etc. to make this a GREAT tool. This also applies to different calibers also i.e. 338. 264, 224 etc. I would not recommend this tool until the various pilot dimensions are offered.

Im still unsure about this tool. Ive checked a number of times the neck thickness using this tool and in all cases the neck thickness differed from the result I got from two (2) ball micrometers (identical readings from BOTH micrometers). What good is this tool if it gives a different reading from the readings received from the micrometers?
