Lyman Brass Smith 8
Have always wanted one of these since I saw my cousin operate his years ago which had less stations than the new model. When Lyman came out with this model my waiting was over. With enough room to place 2 sets of pistol dies, it was my dream come true, not having to screw dies in and out to reload a completed round. Even better yet, purchased an extra turrent head for other cartridges. My old single station Lyman has seen less use, but still has its purposes.

A Great Press
I am very pleased with the quality and ease of operation of this press. It is much cheaper than popular progressive presses and much faster than a single stage press. I load for cowboy action shooting and load a few hundred rounds per month. Unfortunately the primer feed tube was damaged in shipping and months later, I am still waiting for a replacement which Lyman is apparently sending someday.

Very strong press
This is one heavy and strong cast iron press. I was just going to use it for rifle loads, which it handles very well, so I tried magnum pistol loads and am equally impressed. The indexing is firm and precise. I use lee dies on the press. It came with the large primer cup installed. Not the small as stated in the manual. Primer feeding is done by a tube pick up and covered with a heavy steel tube for protection. I found that not letting the primer arm snap back after priming the case is best. Had trouble with the primer set screw coming loose. ( the small one that holds the primer cup and arm in place). Quality is expected from Lyman and is delivered on this press. Love this cast iron press. Brownells price was the lowest I found. With free shipping I am glad that I purchased this press.

Great Press
After using a Lyman Special-T 6-station turret press for 35 years, I decided it was time for a new set up. As with all equipment, there is the need to adjust or modify to your liking. I didn't initially care for the straight line primer feed. The primer stop plunger had too much tension even with the adjustment screw backed almost out. I shortened the plunger from .450" to .395" and cut one turn off of the spring. Works awesome! I have loaded pistol & rifle of various caliber, this press is rock solid and produced very consistant OAL ammo. Also used a bit of epoxy to keep the handle ball in place. Can't go wrong with this press.
