HORNADY - 30 M1 Carbine Full Length 3-Die Set

I have a progressive loader and had no problems with the dies. But I use my progressive as a single or double loader because it isn't very good as a "progressive ."

.30 carbine dies seem to be at a premium these days. Redding appears not to be making them anymore, leaving hornady and LEE. I decided to give these a try. What I like: The "zip" spindles.... awesome, as fast to adjust as the Lee ones decaping spindales.... but without the slip. Hornady lock rings, repeatable zero that never moves and doesn't damage the threads, I run them on all my dies and this set comes with them. What I don't like: They don't always size the brass properly, some brass needed to be flaired, some was so loose after going through the sizer the bullets just fell into the cases. I tried a lot of trouble shooting but to no avail. without a good button on the decapping rod these dies just don't work very well for consistency on the resize. The crimp is finicky at best, even if you set it tight enough to bend the case it will often fail to crimp the bullet properly, it was rather frustrating. If you leave the die loose so it doesn't crimp the seating depth can move. I despise this seating die, it is by far the worst one I have ever used. These dies do not allow you to get a good production rate, You constantly have to check every piece of brass, every bullet seated. I would never use them on a progressive press, most of your amoo would be duds that you would have to redo. I would recommend the Lee dies or if you can snag the redding ones get them instead.
