Reviews Summary
The 'RELOADING MANUAL-1ST EDITION' for Berger bullets has mixed reviews. While some appreciate its targeted load data and detailed insights, others criticize its limited range of bullets and repetitive content. Many feel it's useful mainly for benchrest shooters, but not comprehensive enough for general use. Overall, it may not meet everyone's expectations, particularly those looking for a wide array of data.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Content Coverage
67%
A significant concern among reviewers is the limited range of Berger bullets covered in the manual. Many expected comprehensive data on all available cartridges but found several missing. This dissatisfaction raises questions about the manual's reference value for reloaders using various Berger bullets.
Target Audience
50%
The manual appears most beneficial for benchrest shooters, emphasizing this niche area of shooting. Some users appreciate the extensive focus on load data for these specific types of shooting, while others express disappointment regarding its applicability for highpower rifle competition.
Data Quality
50%
Reviewers who favor the manual commend its loading data accuracy and helpfulness, especially for those struggling to find Berger-specific data elsewhere. The book's detailed chapters about bullet construction and performance are particularly praised, although some argue the information isn't unique or robust enough compared to other reloading manuals.
Comparison to Other Manuals
50%
Several reviews suggest that readers may find superior data and insight in well-established manuals like Lyman's or Hornady's. This comparative critique highlights that while Berger's manual does offer unique insights, it still lags in comprehensive data coverage, which may limit its value to some reloaders.
Overall Impression
60%
The overall impression is divided; some reviewers found the manual an excellent first effort from Berger, welcoming the detailed information, whereas others were left wanting, feeling that it lacked the breadth and depth expected from a specialized reloading guide.
5
One of the best loading books!
I really like this book. A lot of loading data specifically for Berger bullets that is very hard to find in other books like Hornady and Lee. The best choice for benchrest shooters!
5
Great book and great bullets
I like to shoot Berger bullets. The load combinations the book recommended have worked well with no signs of pressure. This i likely the best source to get load data for Berger bullets. Easy

One of the Better Books
Excellent first manual from Berger. Data covers more powders than typically found in "other" reloading manuals. The chapters on BC, COAL, and CBTO are welcome and appreciated. In fact overall the book feels like special attention was made to provide the reader with as much information as possible. There is also a large section on how Berger started, with the story of Walt Berger. Very fitting for a first edition.

Don't Bother With This One
There is nothing special about the load data for each cartridge with a Berger bullet. Most of the book is wrapped around shooters that have no intention of firing a rifle without artificial support: bench rest shooting. Berger makes fine bullets. I was expecting more information on how they may be used to advantage in highpower rifle competition. If you are playing the benchrest game you might learn something from this book. Otherwise, get Lyman's and Hornady's handbooks and you will be all set.
2
Berger reloading manual a disappointment
I figured when I bought a reloading manual for Berger bullets it would contain information on all the bullets that they made. The first 2 calibers I load with Bergers were not in the book. This is so disappointing as a reference manual. Half the book is made up of information on different aspects of shooting disciples that you can find any where on the web. If its Bergers reloading data you would think they would include it all. I would not recommend as you can find this amount of data from other reloading manuals.
