What is the REDDING - Powder Trickler?

The Redding Powder Trickler works extremely well. Turn the knob and you can add powder to your scale one or two granules at a time. Brings underweight charges up fast and accurately. The Trickler weighs a full pound so it won't move all over the bench while in use.

Great Powder Trickler
I've had mine for over a decade, and I love it. It's actually the only one I've ever used, so maybe I just don't know any better, but I'm buying a second one for my second home.

Perfect For My Needs
It may seem a bit odd to be writting a review for a powder trickler since all will trickle and we are not exactlly into high tech gear here. That said I have spent about a month putting together a reloading outfit that would be portable and fit in a medium to large range bag. As an aside there are several small portable presses out there most of aluminum that will fit in the press bag made by Sinclair and this formed the basis for the outfit. Since I was limited on space I stayed away from the larger scales and picked the Redding no. 2 and added 15oz of wheel weights for stability. The Redding trickle matches it perfectly and is indeed on the compact side at only 3.5" tall. Yet it weighs close to one pound with a low center of gravity and is built like a tank. Both the scale and the trickle set on a rubber pad are near imovable with any sort of normal operation. As an added bonus the scale disassembled for protection and the powder measure will both fit into a small zip pistol bag (no Mag pockets)and keep all in a compact package that eaisly slips into the range bag.

Heavy Is Good
I believe this is the best powder trickler on the market. It not only looks good, but it's heavyweight keeps it from turning over and spilling powder all over the bench!
3
THe metering tube galls
I've been using it regularly for about a year. While it's certainly sturdy, with use the aluminum tube is galling from the iron casting it rides against. Probably not the best idea. Also, I wish Redding would rethink the 'Redding Green' finish. It chips easily, shows grease and dirt, and is difficult to clean. There are better choices.
1
Too Short
I love most Redding products but was amazed to discover this trickler is too short to use with an RCBS 5-0-5 balance beam scale. It worked fine after putting something underneath it, but I also had a hard time getting residual powder out of the bottom. Had to use compressed air because the space below the tube is so tight.
