Works
The first time I used this tool was to check factory ammo for a 25-06 that would not group much less than 2moa with the stuff. After fixing the runout it then printed .75 moa or less with the corrected loads. I’ve used it ever since with all my rifle hand loads. I am pleased to say the customer support team at Hornady are stellar performers. They had a replacement part mailed out to me in less than a day. They answered my email before I finished the cup of coffee I was drinking when I sent them the message (I have p… poor telephone service where I live). The Nylon Tip Thumb Screw threw it’s tip, but then it did have at least 10k rounds over it (no BS here either, I shoot competition in two classes of benchrest and have so far shot out seven barrels using this tool for durn near all of it).

easy to use
Use to check home made ammunition as well as store bought. Make sure sure to give a coating of light lube to stainless parts depending on where you live and how the equipment is stored.

A substantial and well made runout guage
This tool gives me the ability to tune my handloads and even factory ammo for minimum runout. This in theory should tighten my groups up by removing one more inconsistency from the loaded rounds. I haven't done a side by side comparison with tuned versus untuned ammo, but my first outing with ammo I had tuned was very successful. The tool itself is very well made and heavy duty, and I look forward to using it for years to come.

Great after a bit of a learning curve
Bought this because I found it for a good deal thinking it could only be a benefit to my reloading process. It took about 50 rounds to get a good rhythm down for removing a case and then inserting new case and about another 100 rounds after that to get +80% of my cases concentric the first try. Overall this appears to have tighten my groups up about 0.1 to 0.2 MOA. I can now align about 150 cases while watching TV, more when I'm actually focused on the task. One note, why setting up I found it beneficial to have the systems spring preloaded only about about an eighth of an inch or less. You only need enough pressure to hold it in there, anything more than that makes using this a pain in the fingers and ears.
