RAMSHOT POWDER - MAGNUM SMOKELESS RIFLE POWDER

Load testing 22 Creedmoor 88gn and 90gn. Happy so far easy metering and some good speeds.

Years ago when I was striving to develop a load to shoot a 240 grain Sierra Match King for a standard 300 WinMag - no fancy reamers, no long throats, just a quality off the shelf Rem 700 or similar - this powder (at the time marketed under a different name, since changed to eliminate possible confusion with another Western Poweders products), this powder gave me the best, most reliable results. I was able to develop a load that shot extremely well at ranges of 1000 yards and beyond using the 240 SMK without any pressure signs. I have reloaded some cases 10+ times and they still hold primers well, belts are still below maximum acceptable diameters, and no problems with extracting, no flattened primers, no split cases. All in a SAAMI spec 300 WinMag chamber. Recent load development with Hornady's 208 AMax is pointing to this powder as the probable superior choice as well. Meters smoothly, reliable performance lot to lot - one of the top three powders I've shot overall in 30+ years of shooting and reloading. Any shooter using magnume cartridges loading for range, i.e. maximum accurate velocity with minimum extreme spread of velocity owes it to themselves to try this powder.

I have been testing this powder in the 300/338 Lapua cartridge with 210 grain Berger VLD's and Federal gold medal 215 magnum primers and have been pleased with the accuracy to date. 93.0 grains out of a 27.5 inch bartlien barrel chronographs around 3100 FPS without even a hint of pressure. Extreme spreads have varied as much as 35 FPS which concerns me but I still have some experimenting to do with my neck bushings. The velocity spread is the basis for four stars instead of five. I'm not sure if this is neck tension or possible temperature sensitivity of the powder. This load is shooting about 5/8 inch groups at 300 yards. good, but shows potential for improvement.
