Great Powder - Perfect For 300 Blackout
I specifically ordered the 8lbs jug of Hodgdon Lil' Gun reloading powder to review for all of my blog fans and followers. After building my 300 Blackout AR, I was struggling to find good solid reloading data. I was in the market to order some powders that are commonly used to load the Blackout cartridge. After all, I was new to the Blackout and have never loaded this type of round before. After much research and calling several powder companies, I found that Lil' Gun was one of the most commonly used for the Blackout cartridge. Once I began to use Lil' Gun, it did take a little getting used to. I had been using IMR4895 almost exclusively and was used to the large granules. Lil' Gun is has very small, fine granules. Because I was using the RCBS Chargemaster 1500 Dispensing Combo, I had to adjust the throw times on the unit. As it was set up for IMR4895, it continually over threw about 1 in every 5 throws due to the smaller nature of the granules. However, once I reset the machine the Lil' Gun flowed flawlessly. I loaded my first 40 test rounds with Lil' Gun for my Blackout. I was using 125gr Nosler Ballistic Tip projectiles. So I followed the manuals recommendations for the Lil' Gun and it shot perfect in my rifle. All FPS recorded were very close to the projected FPS from the manual. Although at first it was a little harder to use than the powders I had been using, I really like Lil' Gun and have since ordered other Hodgdon powders. So far I am very impressed with the results and couldn't be happier. Powder is getting harder and harder to find these days, so do not procrastinate in ordering yourself some Lil' Gun!
