Very versatile powder covers many handgun cartridges. Also, an economical powder.

This if my go to powder for both my .40 S&W, and 10mm. Excellent burn qualities, and plenty of power.

I just completed my first year of gunsmithing school and and in the spring semester we began learning about reloading. Each student had to reload over 100 rounds of pistol, rifle, and shotgun of 1 caliber/ga. One of the most common powders chosen by the students (>30) was Hodgdon HS-6 and each student who used it thought it performed very well. I'm currently reloading over a 1,000 target rounds at home in 9mm, 40S&W, and .45 ACP and plan on using HS-6 for all possible applications which is why I purchased a 8 lb jug.

The cleanest burning for the 9mm i have found so far. I would not use others now with this around. I would tell you to try it for your self. I have tried it with 115,124 grain bullets with out any problems.

Picked up a can of HS6, because of reading John Linebaugh's article about Ruger Only 45 Colt loads. I wanted this powder because it hit a mid-power level less punishing on the wrists than the full power H110/296 loads. It helped change my Ruger from an okay shooter into a real performer with 300 grain cast bullets at 1070 fps. Starting loads were "good" but as the charge worked up groups shrank in size. This Hs6 runs very good in 45 Colt, and even better in my .475L. Definitely will buy more.
