The Hornady® SST® (Super Shock Tip) is designed to deliver tremendous shock on impact while expanding quickly and reliably, particularly at higher velocities.
Flat shooting and deadly accurate, it's an ideal bullet for whitetails, as well as most North American game animals from antelope to moose and similar-sized African plains game. The SST® creates a devastatingly large wound channel.

POLYMER TIP
Upon impact, the hard polymer tip drives into the lead core like a wedge, initiating lightning-fast, yet controlled expansion.

SECANT OGIVE, BOATTAIL PROFILE
Incorporating the pioneering Hornady secant ogive design, the tapered point, increased bearing surface and more aerodynamic profile, combined with a boattail base, makes the SST® more efficient with less drag and greater stability.

CANNELURE
A mid-body cannelure helps keep the core and jacket together while providing a consistent, accurate crimp during the loading process.

INTERLOCK® RING
This Hornady exclusive design mechanically locks the core and jacket together to maintain bullet integrity during expansion, ensuring maximum weight retention and increasing the chances of complete pass-throughs.

Great Hunt or target
I cant believe the reviews for this bullet . I shot a large 12 point at about 250yds. with a heart shot and he never moved . Did another one with a nech shot at 208 yds , dropped on the spot . Sounds like some one is not putting the bullet where it belongs or maybe you need a different rifle . My 22 inch barrel has a 7.5 twist designed for 95 to 105 Gr. bullets loaded at 3000 fps , 5 star in mine .

Loaded at 2950 fps, they are accurate and hold togather very well pelt damage is minnimal and energy transfer is instant.

Explosive and Accurate
Factory loads in the .243 have proven to be accurate and super explosive. The problem is penetration! First small buck shot at 100 yards ran 150 yards. Shot slightly behind shoulder and a little high, almost no blood trail for first 100 yard. Massive damage , one lung shot. Second buck hit in lung, dropped at 25 yards, got up and took off. No blood trail. Deer lost. I think I'll switch back to Nosler Partitions. I hate to think of taking on a big hog with this weak penetration!
