RCBS - Rotary Case and Media Separator

This device works even better than I hoped. A big pain with tumbling cases is the primer pocket/flash hole being blocked with media. With this separator I found that the majority of the cases had the media knocked out and the flash hole cleared as opposed to before when the majority were blocked. The clamshell closes tight and no dust leaks out when spinning, a big plus over sifters for health reasons. It seems solidly built and I read some reviews about the hinges not lasting but they look like if you're careful they will be just fine. Also I trust RCBS and Brownells to stand behind this product as both companies offer a LIFETIME warranty, so what's to worry about?

This sifter does a great job of getting your media out of your cases. The large slots let even fresh, large media fall out.The problem is in the hinges. It uses hinges that are meant to be easy to take apart, but they fall apart if you open either the outer hopper or the cage without paying a lot of attention to being gentle with it.They snap right back together, but for [$], it should have real hinges.I have a small vibrating case cleaner, so I need to do a lot of batches, and its a pain. If I had a larger vibrating case cleaner where I was only doing a batch or two to clean all my brass, it would not be so bad. The hinges come apart at every use. It is awkward to transfer your media back to the tumbler. the triple plastic shell sorter and a 5 gallon bucket does as good a job and you dont have to snap it back together every 5 minutes. its really large. Very messy.

I have this product and have been using it over a period of years. There is absolutly nothing outstandingly good about this product. It does its job, but it is rather cheaply made and is somewhat flimsy. The fact of the matter is that with a little time, I could make one that does just as good a job and spend a lot less money, but since I already have this one, I will use it until I get sick of it.
