had one about 3 years only had to replace the thermostat once took 10 minutes or less. Melts lead to 650F in about 15 minutes or so and is very easy to use. The lever up front for controlled pouring is a plus. A great product from Mr. Lee & crew

This is one of those devices with several good features that are overwhelmed by a single terrible feature that makes it unusable. The bottom feed pour spout alternately either drips or clogs, it never shuts on and off as it should. This is a fluid that is 7-800 degrees, it should have a reliable "petcock". Instead the device is a cheap metal bar with a travel of about 1/8", whose hole becomes choked with slag, the bar becomes coated with lead and the design is nearly impossible to adjust. The only solution in the instructions manual literally say to rock the screw head back and forth in order to free the drain hole and to use a paper clip to push clogs out of the drain spout. Neither technique works. It is just a bad design. If you use pure new lead blocks you might not have much trouble, but under no circumstances add wheel weights or soiled stock (clean it scrupulously before placing in the pot0. Once there is slag in the spout, nothing will get it out What does work: The temperature control is excellent, the heating elements provide stable heat. The controls are easy to use. There is sufficient space under the spout (if it works) to hold any size mould. The unit is relatively light and does not consume too much power for a resistance heater. Construction is inexpensive but adequate for the cost.
