What is the BENCH-SOURCE - Brass Case Neck Annealing Machine?

BENCH-SOURCE CASE NECK ANNEALING MACHINE

The BENCH-SOURCE case neck annealing machine is used exclusively to anneal and refurbish your Bottle Neck and Long Straight Wall cartridge cases for reloading. It will restore your case necks to ‘like new’ condition and extend the life of your cartridge cases. The net result is reduced reloading cost and improved accuracy. The uniformity of case neck tension will allow you to seat your bullets with less run out and more consistency in your reloads. Can be used with one or two heat sources since the cartridge case spins on a stationary spindle while heating. Heating times can be adjusted from 1.5 to 10 seconds. Manufactured out of aluminum and fan cooled; no plastic to bow or warp and the table acts as a heat sink to ensure cartridge case head integrity. This unit will process about 500-600 cartridges per hour, expect an average time of 4-5 seconds for heating and 2 seconds for indexing for a standard 308 case.

Bench Source
I have used the bench source annealing machine for several years now. When I first started it took several tries before I got the heat right. I would highly recommend the use of a temple stick or other similar product to help getting the temperatures right. Once you get used to seeing the color changes on your brass you won't need the temple stick anymore. Just like shooting the more you practice the better you become. I read one of the questions someone ask: Do you have to quench in water after heating. Answer: Brass being a non-ferrous alloy does not require quenching to lock in the change you make to the material after heating, unlike ferrous alloys. You can quench or allow to cool slowly; it makes no difference. Bottom line: I really like this machine and I have had several conversations with the manufacture, the customer service has been great.
