They clean well, only if…
These pellets do a great job cleaning out barrels, if you can keep it inside the barrel. I tried the 9.5mm Super Intensive on a Glock, 1911, and Taurus barrel. One with a 45-degree crown, another with a 11-degree crown, and a flat crown. The challenge is pulling the pellet back into the barrel once it has been pushed out the muzzle. The dang thing will not come back in. Please note that this review is for the 9.5mm Super Intensive Pellets. The pellet distorts in such a way that it will not fit the muzzle. Picture this. You thread a pellet onto the VFG 8-32 thread adapter. Kroil the pellet, apply some J-B Bore Compound, push it through the chamber down the bore and out the muzzle. Typically, you would be able to pull it back through the muzzle so that you can get the polishing done, but noooooo! Once you get that little pellet out the muzzle, you have to disassemble the adapter, pull out the rod, reassemble the pellet to the adapter, and go again. And all this while having oil and compound on your fingers. SO FRUSTRATING! I thought I would be able to perform the same action as one does when using a bore brush. I had to be very, very careful not to push the pellet all the way out so that I could get the push pull action going. Oh, and good luck trying to hold the barrel in one hand while pushing the rod with the other, not gonna happen. These pellets are a real tight fit, which is great. I had to use my 4-inch drill press vise to hold the barrels. But, as I stated, they do a great job polishing the barrels. It’s just the disassembly reassembly thing that turns me away from these pellets. Imagine if you had to remove the bore brush from the rod every single time you pushed it down the bore once and out the muzzle. You would only be cleaning in one direction. Overboxed and undercounted
The product itself is great with Kroil and JB Bore paste for older bores in need of a good cleaning but my order of Koil and JB, pellets, and pellet adapter was placed in a box 4 times the size needed to ship and still loose in the box when received. I'd called about the price of shipping prior to order thinking it was a bit high for a small order but was told this size was needed to ship. The final irritation was with the pricey imported German .338 to 8mm "Super Intensive Pellets" advertised and billed as a package of 50 but only containing 38 when received. After looking closer at the actual manufacturer's label on the box; I should have clicked on Brownells item picture to enlarge, I read a count of "approx. 40 pcs." Initial call about shipping took 45 minutes; similar to insurance company customer service, two subsequent calls after receipt of order only resulted in busy signals and an unreturned message. Brownells obviously is very busy but they won't be needing any more of my little bit of business.
