CFE® BLK SMOKELESS RIFLE POWDER

CFE® BLK SMOKELESS RIFLE POWDER Reviews & Ratings

HODGDON POWDER COMPANY CFE® BLK SMOKELESS RIFLE POWDER

CFE® BLK is a new Spherical powder from Hodgdon, specifically formulated for the 300 AAC Blackout cartridge. This new powder provides full function of AR-type rifles throughout the range of bullet weights, and is perfect for those subsonic reduced loads. In addition to being the perfect solution for the .300 Blackout, it performs beautifully in many smaller capacity cartridges, in particular, varmint cartridges such as the .17 Hornet, .17 Ackley Hornet, .218 Bee, .221 Fireball and many more. It also yields top performance in the 6.8 Remington SPC and the 7.62X39mm Russian cartridge. This fine powder meters like a dream and leaves no copper residue, extending accuracy for longer shooting periods, and making clean-up quick and easy. It is truly a remarkable new propellant!

Large Standard Deviation
Both a friend and I tried to developer a subsonic 220 Gr load for our .300 Blackouts. Results were identical in both rifles. Extreme spread was 95 FPS with our target velocity of 1050 FPS. 25 % of our rounds would break the sound barrier during testing. This powder is the one lemon In Hodgdons line up. The good news is it makes plenty of pressure and ran both our rifles, one a AR Pistol and the other a SBR, 100% reliably. The bottom line is this powder lends itself to large velocity variations and isnt suitable for loads in the 1050 FPS neighborhood. If you need consistency, look else where.
