Not made entirely by LE WIlson
I got this thinking I was buying a product made entirely by L.E. Wilson. I was wrong. Although the trimmer base, rods, bearing, hold down and cutter are genuine Wilson, the micrometer is installed by Sinclair. I use precision tools at my job and can say with certainty that micrometer on this unit is trash. I replaced mine with a Wilson micrometer and the difference is night and day - there's no looseness of any kind in the Wilson, whereas the Sinclair mic has a good .010" of play in it, causing it to sit cocked in the bore when the thumbscrew is tightened. When I contacted customer support, I was told this not a problem (even though it causes the trimmer to not cut perfectly square). I called Wilson and they told me this is a common issue with Sinclair Ultimate models, but since this isn't their micrometer, they couldn't help me. I eventually purchased the Wilson micrometer and my problem is rectified. Do yourself a favor and get the genuine Wilson micrometer and save yourself the headaches I've had.
A mixed bag.
The shell holders measure ~.97", the bearing through which the cutter passes is only ~.95". The shell holder and tool center do not line up! I contacted Sinclair tech support who confirmed what I'm seeing and then referred me to Wilson tech support. I haven't heard from Wilson yet. For case trimming the misalignment is of no real consequence. However for reaming, chamfering or primer pocket work the tool is useless as configured. In my opinion, the Wilson method of holding the cases is superior to everything else. My solution... have a new bearing machined that is of the correct dimension and have it bored to fit Forster cutters and accessories. The best of the two best!
Great for Rifle - Horrible for Pistol
Saw the videos and read about using this trimmer. No problem. Put the case into the holder, tap it, set it on the rails, and with the micrometer already adjusted - trim. That's how it is for a rifle. Put a .45 or a 9mm in there. Now the part they don't tell you till you order the holder. "Drive the case in with a mallet OR AN ARBOR PRESS, trim it and then drive it back out. Will probably have to use a wooden dowel". You have got to be kidding me. If you are trimming pistol this is NOT the trimmer you want.
