STAINLESS STEEL CROSS BOLT LOCK RING

STAINLESS STEEL CROSS BOLT LOCK RING Reviews & Ratings

The Sinclair Cross Bolt Die Lock Rings are machined from stainless steel and fit all standard 7/8-14 reloading dies or press mounted accessories. The lock ring surfaces are machined flat and parallel, and the cross bolt design with no lock screw contacting the die threads is preferred by most experienced reloaders. We incorpated a larger hex screw crossbolt (7/64" Hex) but designed the crossbolt recess so the hex head does not protrude from the lock ring circumferenced. Will work with the Forster CO-AX Press.

Not functional with Forster press
I have loaded thousands of both pistol and rifle rounds on my Forster Press. On a whim, I decided to try a set of the SINCLAIR rings. Forster presses use a proprietary, self adjusting shell holder system. Sinclair rings are too thick and do not alow the necessary leeway for automatic alignment between casing and die.. The user has to force align by hand. Grossly unproductive if you are single stage sizing 1000 45 acp cases. I switched back to a standard Forster ring and Shazam, no problem.t

Needs more R&R
Three problems:amount of torque required to tighten & lock twist ring on die threads. Claimed to fit Forster Co-Ax press: yes they will go but having a larger diameter & being thicker affects free-float of die, also hardness of ring will in time cause wear. Per Forster: Using our Cross Bolt Die Lock Rings is important for two reasons: They keep the Co-Ax Press T-Slot free from wear that may be caused by other harder steel lock rings. They are the proper thickness to allow the dies to "float" in the T-Slot for optimal reloading. Sinclair put a notch to ease force needed they still twist, and they appear to be oversize threaded, sloppy on my Redding Comp.dies until really cranked down.
