Chatter
Clymer reamers have become notorious for chatter lately. I have had a couple that chattered, and several of my Gunsmith colleagues have had the same thing. I would not recommend the reamers by this company, as their quality has gone downhill in the past few years. My reamer chattered so bad so fast that the chamber was almost not salvageable.
not worth spending the money on
Bought Clymer reamer because of reputation - MISTAKE. Even with a floating reamer holder, I couldn't make it stop chattering. Had to set barrel back & start over with another brand of reamer (worked great)
Excessive chatter
Having used Clymer reramers in the past, I expected no problems. When I used this reamer it started to chatter immediately. Regardless of lathe speed or feed rate I was unable to eliminate the chatter. Thanks to the folks at Brownells, I was not stuck with this poorly made tool. I will continue to use Clymer reamers in the future, which I already have, but will think twice before buying another one.
