QC Not That Great
Found this Colt carrier/bolt at a good price, with coupon. Arrived quickly. BUT, carrier would not go into any AR receiver I had. Extremely frustrating. Compared it to others, mic'd it out, dimensionally fine. Finally traced it down to the carrier key. The hole in the key which accepts the gas tube had not been drilled deep enough, there was a clear "step" that kept the gas tube from going in the final 0.25". I processed it for return to buy another, and found them "Out of Stock". As I have no idea when it will be back in stock, I had a spare key and bolts, so replaced it myself. No knock on Brownell's, this was clearly a Colt quality control problem.
Sadly Colt is not what it used to be. :(
Numerous problems, bag was torn right near the end where the bolt lugs were (lugs were fine though), gas key bolts were poorly staked, mars on the bolt shaft and no MP markings. Carrier was ok with a stippled "C" that was barely visible. Very unfortunate to see this type of QC from a company like Colt. I had no choice but to return it.. I want everyone to know that this was not the fault of Brownells, these guys and gals have always done a great job with customer service.
Not what they used to be.
I have purchased other Colt BCGs in the past, and they were fantastic. The last two I purchased had issues with the gas keys, and were returned to Brownells for a refund. This last one has poor/sloppy finish at the front of the carrier, and dings on the gas key. Colt used to be my go to for critical components, but they arent what they used to be. Id expect these fit/finish/QC issues from bargain brands, which is why I always chose Colt in the first place. This is inexcusable coming from a premium brand that charges premium prices.

I left a review below, but am updating my experience with this review. The first carrier I got looked good upon receipt, but upon cleaning, lubricating and manually cycling the bcg in a Daniel Defense MK18 , the finish wore off at an extremely alarming rate, without even being fired. I contacted Brownells and they sent a replacement out fast. Unfortunately the one I just received already has wear marks on it where the phosphate is worn through, straight out of the package. Both carriers were marked c and bolts marked mpc . I am extremely disappointed with Colt for how cheap the finish is on these things. With what I do for a living I send alot of rounds down range a year. I have run BCM, Aero, Daniel Defense, Rubber City, and Microbest carriers frequently and have never seen such a weak finish as I have with these Colt carriers. Will it affect function? No. For $220 do I expect better? Absolutely. Do better Colt. Brownells, your guys service is unparalleled and I applaud your customer service. Bottom line, save your money and order any of the above brands that I listed. You will be much happier and have a better quality product.
