The Ammo Boost Detachable Magazine Drop-In Kit for the Remington 700 BDL from Legacy Sports International contains everything you need to boost your 700's magazine capacity. At the same time, you'll also get the speed and convenience of a detachable box magazine for ultra-fast reloads. Each Ammo Boost kit consists of (1) the magazine itself and (2) a drop-in bottom metal assembly that replaces your rifle's triggerguard, hinged floorplate, and the surrounding frame. stiff magazine release spring

I have one of these for a 223 and I am pleased with it performance. They never seemed to be in stock so I ordered one directly from Legacy Sports. When it arrived I found that the spring for the magazine release was VERY STIFF making it extremely difficult to remove the magazine. It works but it takes two hands to remove the magazine, one to press the magazine release and one to pull out the magazine. With the original one I could remove the magazine with one hand, press the magazine release with the tip of my index finger and the magazine would drop into my hand. I called Legacy Sports and they said the new ones come from Japan with heavier springs. They offered no solution other than to return it for a refund (at my expense).

Poor Quality

I purchased this item for my 308 Remington 700 BDL with a Hogue stock. the problem I had was that the torque specs from the manufacturer state 30 to 35 inch pounds. The Hogue stock is aluminum pillar bedded, and the torque specs for the front and rear screws are 55 inch pounds. torquing the action screws to 35" pounds allows my action to move in the stock when firing. I tried tightening the action screws to 40 inch pounds, and the extra 5 inch pounds of torque cracked the rear screw hole of the trigger guard. This is totally unacceptable. In my opinion, the manufacturer needs to devise a way to install steel bushings into their product to prevent this problem from happening. even if it raised the cost of the product, it would at least make it useable.

"Bottom Metal" is a generic term for this part of a firearm. The description does state... "All components are constructed of reinforced, injection-molded, impact-resistant polymer."

Only holds 9 204 rounds and mag is difficult to get in and stay in

Cheap plastic!

I dont usually write reviews, but I was not a fan of this item. First off I used the specs with a inch pounds torque wrench and the plastic cracked. I thought well I can fix this. Then the magazine was so tight I had to jerk it out. I could also jerk the mag out without hitting the release. I put this on a 700 BDL and ended up sending it back. Brownells is great but this product is not!
