Out of Spec
Purchased to fit a Colt A1 Upper, upgraded to an A2 aperture with a small target peep & larger combat peep, so did not use the provided A1 aperture previous reviewers have complained about. The windage screw was definitely a tight fit, but issue was with the roll pin hole being undersized, actually bent the roll pin installing it, never had that happen before.
Broken roll pin
Those who gave this a good review must have gotten a good kit. Something must have been sized wrong (I suspect the wind ate drum as getting the pin started was almost impossible) on the one I got because after properly lining mine up to tap the pin home, my roll pin split and flared so I cant drive it in any farther.
Wouldn't recommend
I bought this rear sight assembly to install in my Brownells/Nodak Spud A1 upper. This sight BARELY fits. The measurements are out of spec. I got it in, but required filing, greasing, and excessive hammering. Wouldn't buy again.
Out of spec parts
Finish was good, however the windage screw was either turned too big or the hole in the windage drum was too small to the point it was going to be a press fit to get them together. I decided to disassemble it before any damage might occur trying to install it. I will be looking at other manufacturers for an A1 rear sight assembly.
EXTREMELY Tight!
Bought this to install on my Brownell 080-001-303MB BRN-16A1 M16A1 Upper Receiver Black. First thing I noticed is that the roll pin was missing from the package. In too much of a hurry to get it installed to worry about a replacement. I've got pins, we can do this. Second, as other reviewers have stated, the flat spring wasn't quite flat enough for my liking, making the pin a bear to get through both holes & consequentially also made the sight a pain to flip/rotate. Third, the tolerances were so tight on the pin (head to roll pin hole) that I had to sharpen the tip of an old punch just to get the roll pin holes to align in order to install the roll pin. Final result: it LOOKS great, but I have to use a large flathead to adjust it. Time to tear it back down & do some minor smith work.
Buyer beware
Much like another reviewer, I bought this sight kit and tossed it in a drawer until I needed it for the build. The screw is horrendously tight. I almost knicked my receiver trying to tighten the thing. If I had a tap and die the right size, I would run both the sight and screw through them and then assemble. I'm going to basically use the screw as it's own tap with the sight itself in the bench vice (padded) and get it smoothed out then install the sight in the upper as others have done. I won't be buying another one of these.
