Great stock at a low price
Nice and solid with a good balance. The extra mag storage is nice and doesn't rattle. I like that the barrel extension is protected in the stock when taken down to keep it clean and undamaged. The friend lock seems durable and locks into the rear stock firmly.

Brownells/Tacsol 10/22 build
The X-22 backpacker stock looks sweet paired with the Tactical Solutions SB-X takedown barrel and worked great with the brn-22 flat top takedown receiver matched with the Brownells bolt and Ruger bx trigger.

Would not expect anything less
Would not expect anything less from Magpul, Brownells price was the lowest I could find the shipping was fast and the packaging was excellent.
Magpul o.d. Green backpacker stock
Great stock, light weight, comes with hi and lo cheek riser. I added a sling mount to the forend and attached a Magpul bipod. Works great. Thank you Brownells for the best prices out there!
Solid!
Very nice! In the running for the best simple mod I've ever made to a gun. I also added two QD sling mounts which really topped it off. The rear QD socket mount is a little on the close side to the butt of the stock, so you might have some minor interference with a swivel attached when shouldering; shouldn't be a big deal at all. The mechanism to lock the barrel into the stock is a great invention, rock solid, and gives an affirmative feeling when clipping it in. Still fits as one piece into the Ruger Takedown backpack but likely would need to split it into two pieces if you have any kind of optic. The OD green is super nice in person too, the stock photos don't do it justice.
very cool
After waiting what seemed like forever...it was worth the wait. Installed in 5 minutes. Replaced the stock cheek riser with the taller one which set up perfectly with my red dot. Takedown works exactly the same. Once the Magpul optic mount arrives I'll move the optic out to the barrel.
Great stock
What a great stock, nice & compact. Surprised that Magpul charges extra for the QD mounts , although the stock is formed to accept them... it's listed as an accessory. Disappointing, as a sling would make it like a backpack..

RUGER~ 10/22 TAKEDOWN~ X-22 BACKPACKER STOCKS I wanted one of these stocks form the day I first saw it. Having recently acquired another 10/22 Take-Down I decided to outfit it with the X-22 Backpacker. I bought the gray to compliment the CRES barrel and receiver and I think it looks good. Subtle not flashy. I do wish that the product description on both MAGPUL and Brownells indicated that the QD inserts were an option so I could have ordered them with the stock. Though I have only practiced a few dry fire deployment exercises and not live fire I really like the functionality as well as optics of this arrangement. This is MAGPUL, Made in the USA Quality. As a local VA sporting goods store commercial says, Come on, get you some! Cas
Ruger 10/22 Captive Screws
I like this product but it has always used the stock/takedown screws already on the rifle; hence, it does not come with screws. I guess as a benefit to customers, recent vintage 10/22 rifles come with captive stock screws that stay with the stock. I suppose this reduces the likelihood of losing the screws. This necessitates, however, that the screws must be purchased with the new stock or you risk a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth when attempting installation. Dont ask how I know this.
