AR-15/M16 GEN3-M FOLDING STOCK ADAPTER

AR-15/M16 GEN3-M FOLDING STOCK ADAPTER Reviews & Ratings

Law Tactical's steel adapter enables installation of a folding stock on any AR-15 to create a smaller-profile rifle for easy deployment from a vehicle or transport in non-permissive environments. Works with standard gas impingement OR gas piston system. Accepts A2, mil-spec M4-style, and commercial carbine receiver extension tube and almost any stock that fits them. Compatible with all standard bolt carrier groups, including full-auto and .308 size. Single-button operation for quick folding and unfolding and steel locking latch keeps stock securely in place when extended. Gen3-M has a lowered hinge to avoid interference when charging the weapon, and a setscrew keeps the adapter securely affixed to the receiver. Hinge tension is adjustable so you can choose how stiff the folding mechanism is. Includes special bolt carrier extension (no tools to install/remove). Current version utilizes standard buffer retaining pin and spring. Stock adapters feature a DLC coating, except for the Olive Drab Green which has a Cerakote finish.

Does not work as advertized
Followed all the instructions but bolt carrier jams in the buffer tube.

Great product
Disappointed that before I received it I got a email 2 days before to buy another one for $50.00 cheaper…

Simply a toy
This isnt service ready. It leaves the back end of the receiver open to debris, the collapse button is too small and relying on the original buffer retaining pin to hold the buffer alone will inevitably lead to loss of the retainer when the buffer escapes. It will not work with blowback versions that have an additional buffer weight inside the bcg as it has a bcg extension that jams into the back of the carrier. This isn't shown on the Brownells site. Otherwise it's well machined, but just isn't fleshed out enough to go live

Product out of spec.
The folder is great and installation was easy but when disassembling the extended bolt attachment retainer and reassembling, I noticed the screw just turning freely within the threads when trying to screw back in. Not what I'd expect for nearly 300 dollars.

One shot wonder!!
I purchased this to complete a compact pistol build. The main reason for purchasing this product over others is the fact it can be shot with the stock folded. However, that is not exactly true! The dirty little secret that is only found in the instructions is that if you fire it folded, which is not recommended by the manufacturer, then O-rings will need to be replaced. So you get one shot folded, not what I was looking for ... there is a manufacturers out there that makes a complete system utilizing a shorter bolt that can be fired folded. If firing while folded is important to you look elsewhere!

Very nice but hate the writing on side
Its really nice and locks up tight. works well and great for showing an SBR in a backpack. I just HATE how the writing really stands out. Im sick of my guns looking like billboards. This SBR now has LAW TACTICAL writing on it, LaRue on the mount, Vortex on the scope, BCM on the upper, 300 blackout on the upper, BCM on the BCG...Theres so much white writing everywhere its distracting. I wish these companies would stop. I know it shouldn't matter but it does. Whatever happened to good ol Colt who just engraves and thats it. Other than that its nice. The other reason I put two stars is there just isnt really a need for it and I worry it won't hold up to abuse. I wouldn't put it on a work gun but great for hiking/hunting. Great service from Brownells as usual.

Don't see the point
So, I installed one of these on an AR I put together for a client. Yes, it is well made. I think it's probably very sturdy. I have a few major complaints, though. First, you can not shoot the gun with the stock folded. Because of this, you are paying almost $300 just to make the rifle shorter while eliminating functionality. If you have a side-attaching sling on the left side of the buffer tube, you can not fold the stock all the way. Also, there is no way to lock the stock in the folded position. When we picked up our gun with the stock folded, it just fell open. Finally, you can not use this with a 1-piece buffer and spring like those sold by JP. I just don't think you get enough value to justify the price.
