Rifle handguard has 5 longitudinal flutes to save weight, and 10 slots cut in the muzzle end to help improve air flow and help speed cooling. Carbine handguard has 8 longitudinal flutes to save weight. Pistol handguard has no flutes or slots.

its really wide

the fit and finish is nice, but its basically a like putting a pop can on the front of your rifle/pistol. it dwarfs the reciever in width. i found it quite goofy and it is uncomfertable to try to grip as your hand sits over the massive lip it forms transitioning to the reciever

"Rifle length is a little to short"

This is a well made part, excellent machining, good checkering, but I had to give it poor quality as it is too short for a full size, 20" barreled AR. The gas block should not show, however; with this handguard it is outside the interior of the handguard and looks weird. All other handguards I have used completely cover the gas block as it should be for protection. I must confess, I did not measure the rifle barrel to be sure it would fit. Should have, it is from Sharps in 25-45. However; it's not their barrel that's the problem as I used a standard AR gas tube. And the website ad for this part did give it's overall length, but when it said "made for a full size rifle" and 20" barrel, I just figured that it would fit correctly. Will probably replace it later but can't send it back, I painted it. Oh well.
