DURACOAT PAINTS Reviews & Ratings

Airbrush application gives a smooth finish. Dries in 10 minutes and fully cures overnight; speed cure in the oven at 110° F for 1 hour. The HARDENER is included with each color. The 4 oz. finishes 1-4 firearms; and the 8 oz. finishes 4-8 firearms depending on application and size of firearms.

Great color and durable

I sprayed my Glock 22 lower and my Ruger LC9 slide with this color over 1 1/2 years ago. I carry the Ruger every day and I use the Glock at the range and at weapons classes. The paint is durable and so far neither weapon shows any signs of wear. I will definitely use this brand of paint for my next project!

About the best air-cure finish out there

I primarily use H-series (oven cure) Cerakote for my gunsmithing business, but for those chores where I cannot bake the part (scopes, flashlights, stocks, etc), I use Duracoat, as it's cheaper and much more durable than Cerakote C-series (Air cure). I originally purchased a regular O.D. green unit, but it just looked "glossy", regardless of hardener amount... so I tried this, "ultra-flat tactical" version, and it works beautifully! It is a deep, dark green with no reflection, between matte and satin, so it looks gorgeous without sacrificing the "tactical" look. I use an airbrush with this, and it is very easy to spray and after a week or so of curing, is quite tough! I always blast my parts with either garnet or aluminum oxide 120 grit media, so I don't know how this finish will work out of a part that's not been blasted for proper texture. I keep mine refridgerated for maximum shelf life (around a year). Overall, a good product.

Good stuff

Used severl colors of Duracoat including this one. The only reason i put 4 stars is because unless you are baking it takes so long to fully cure. I have waited the recomended time and with wild brass slinging 1911s they tend to chip. I have waited twice the amount recomended and not ended up with this problem. I still use this product and am happy with it but if you want a quick cure time bake it and save some time.

I finished one rifle with this product. Instructions were easy to understand and follow. Finish was as advertised, tough, durable and looked very good. My only issue was that I think it should come in two ounce bottles as I still have 90% of the bottle left and I'll never use this color up.
