Two-part kits achieve a durable, beautiful, blue or black finish on complete guns or dinged-up areas on damaged ones without expensive equipment. Perfect for professionals who have only one or two guns to refinish and user-friendly enough for the home hobbyist. It’s great for touching up worn, rusted, nicked, or scratched factory bluing because it only sticks to the damaged areas, and leaves the good bluing unaffected. The “stop and start” feature allows you to go back and add coats of bluing before the developer sets, for a deeper, darker finish. The unique process does not use oxidation. Instead, it embeds micronized gold, silver, nickel, copper, and chromium onto the gun’s metal. Experiment for a variety of possible finishes. Gun Blue produces a color that matches many factory hot blue finishes. Gun Black produces a finish that’s a deep, dark black.

Will not work on stainless steel, aluminum, alloys.

Blue Wonder Blacken8 g Kit

I completely stripped an old .22 barrel and receiver. Followed the instructions to the letter and it looked great ! After sitting for a couple of days in a low humidity atmosphere, it turned a slightly brown color. I recleaned it, following the instructions, and reapplied. It now looks better, but it still appears like a light gold color is below the blackener.

Ok. Not magic though, nor a wonder

I used the black version for reference. I used it to re-blue an extractor after filing it down for a flush fit to the slide. It's simple to use and provides adequate coverage, though I suspect it would be inadequate for any areas subject to more daily wear and tear. The coverage is less than uniform and I used it on bare metal,so I suspect it would be less than satsfactory on a piece one hopes to restore to a factory-like finish. I could see it being useful for evening up the appearance of a worn blue/black finish. Certainly not for a top notch showroom finish,

Not that good.

I bought this kit just to try it out. The instructions state that 5-15 coats is sufficient to blue a barrel/firearm. I attempted to reblue a chrome-moly barrel. I put 10 coats on the barrel, and it still didn't turn the barrel a dark blue. 80% of the barrel was a gold hue, not dark blue. I am rather disappointed in the Blue Kit...hopefully the Black Kit will perform better. This does not perform nearly as well as the blueing in a bottle that you can buy at the local sporting goods store, and Blue Wonder isn't user friendly.

Would not do what I wanted it to do.

Goes on good if you follow the instructions. Will have a good black color, but it is not shinny, it is dull black color . Would not match up with the rest of my gun for touchup, but did color it black. It would work best if you take you gun down to bare metal first and than put it on, would be good dull black finish and look okay. Not good for a high quality pistol with a high polished bluing that looks gloss black , will have to send this old pistol back to factory for original refinishing.
