S&W REBOUND SLIDE SPRING TOOL

S&W REBOUND SLIDE SPRING TOOL Reviews & Ratings

S&W REBOUND SLIDE SPRING TOOL

Specially bent and slotted tool is really about the only way to get past the frame pin to grab and compress the rebound slide spring while removing or installing the rebound slide. Fits all J, K, L, N and X frames. Will not scratch that valuable frame, pinch or bind.

NOTE:
This tool may not work with the Smith and Wesson Bodyguard series of revolvers

SPECS:
  • 6" (15.2cm) long
  • 1.015" (25.8cm) diameter.

Won't fit newer J-frames
As is, this tool WILL NOT fit newer model J-frames as they have a thicker pin on the frame holding the slide spring in place. I spoke with a Brownell's gun tech and he said to just take a Dremel to it which I did. I DID tell him that maybe they should notify shoppers on the product page as not everyone wants to fix a tool to later fix a gun.

After some filing, was able to use it.
DID NOT FIT J Frame 642 LS. I had to file this tool to fit the gun it was allegedly made for. It did work but damage to the post is possible if you're not careful. Needs a flatter nose and proper post and frame clearance.
