There are Better Ways to Install Roll Pins
I usually use Knipex wrench pliers to install roll pins with tape over the jaws to prevent marring anything, and it works really great; far better than any roll pin punches I've ever used. The roll pins get seated flush and there's no marring, plus there's a lot of control over the installation. I bought one of these bolt catch punches at the recommendation of a friend, and while it's a quality piece that works and is a creative shape for its intended use, it doesn't work as well as my old method. The punch will still remove a little bit of the finish on the roll pin, and it's more difficult to use than the wrench pliers. It just sits unused in my firearm toolbox now.
