HK hook big fail
I have an AICS 2.0 chassis that is supposed to accept HK style sling hooks and this product did not fit. Also I don't get how it is supposed to work with the gate positioned inside the nose of the hook. The sample pictures show the gate positioned both inside and outside of the hook, I was sent one with the gate inside of the nose. It did not fit without binding and would not allow the sling clip to be reinstalled on the chassis buttstock. Big waste of money.
Spring come loose, Jaw loses tension
The build quality on this snap hook feels very sturdy, and I like that the slot is wide enough to support a 1.25" wide sling. Unfortunately, the sling hook I purchased stopped functioning properly after only very short and light use. Specifically, the spring came loose from its channel. This outcome appears to have made possible due to the non-riveted pin drifting slowly but surely outwards. As a result, tension is no longer placed on the jaw, and the snap hook can no longer be relied on the stay secured onto the sling attachment point of the firearm in use. After the Brownells snap hook failed on me, I purchased a different snap hook (unknown brand) for $4.99, which *did* have a riveted pin - and as a result, has yet to fail on me. I have included 2 photos with this review: one shows the Brownells-brand snap hook next to a different snap hook with a riveted pin, the other shows how the spring on the Brownells snap hook came loose and is sticking out of the side. If Brownells were to start making and selling this snap hook with a riveted pin, I would give it a 5/5 rating without hesitation. Until that happens, I would suggest people avoid buying this snap hook, and instead purchase any other snap hook with a riveted pin.
