Dont waste your money.
This thing is junk. First use the plastic/rubber coating tore on both sides of the tool. It is a real pain in the you know what to use as its to flexible and doesnt get a good grip on the delta ring. It slips off repeatedly and marred the finish on my Colt 6920 upper. Complete waste of money. Im going to throw it in the trash so I wont be tempted to use this Piece of Junk again. Ive always had nothing but good luck with stuff from Brownells. I guess they were more interested in selling a cheap product on this one.
Cheap - Avoid
My experience with this tool has been negative. As others have noted, the plastic coating on the tool tears where it comes into contact with the slip ring. Also, the plastic is shiney and very slick and constantly slides off the slip ring. Each time it slides off, the plastic coating tears a bit more. Also, as it slides off, it wears the finish off of the slip ring. Further, the handle of the tool is tapered, so that the thinnest portion of the handle is where you are applying force to grab the slip ring. This makes the handles flex and loose grip on the slip ring. A poor design. Avoid this tool.
Don't get this one!
First use coating came off, slipped down and marred finish. Horrible. Pay the extra few bucks and get the other one here. You wont be sorry.
Damages Gun
Used one time and the plastic coating on the tool is so cheap that it it pushed right through to the finiish on the underside of the magazine. Left about 1/2 centimeter gouge out of the gun's black finish. Total junk. Do not buy, look for fully pollymer alternatives or tightly rubberband two tooth brushes together facing away frome one another. Works just and well and wont scratch your weapon.
"Serious Users Need Not Apply"
This is almost not worth getting... it is only good for 1 or 2 uses before the coating is worn out. Once the rubber wears away it will scratch up the delta ring and is almost impossible to keep it from slipping. Case and point: 3rd rifle I tried with this in the first day of use it slipped off a brand new stubborn/tight delta ring and my knuckles suddenly lacked skin from impacting the receiver with the force I was applying to the tool. For such limited use I would stick to manually removing the handguard by hand.. that being said if your like me and work on multiple AR's a week then you need something beefier. This wont cut it for any long term armorer duty. Save yourself the cash and just buy the stronger model that costs a bit more on here. Night and day difference and that one is actually going strong many rifles later.
coating comes off after a few uses
Have only used a few times and the urethane coating has broken and is coming off at all contact points. Great for a single build but not for folks who want to use it for several.
Worked But Protective Covering Came Off
While trying to install some new Troy rails on my Colt M4 I used this tool and the rubberized protective covering on the removal tool ripped and started coming off. I would not recommend this tool until a different rubberized treatment was applied to the tool.
