The Brownells Ejector Removal Tool is a versatile fixture lets you remove plunger-style ejectors from standard 0.700" and 0.510" diameter bolts quickly and safely without launching parts across the room. Works for a variety of popular rifles, including AR-15, AR-style .308 rifles, Remington 700, Winchester 70, Savage, and Sako. Rugged, lightweight body machined from 6061 billet aluminum securely holds bolt while threaded, tool steel shank compresses and captures ejector spring and aligns the roll pin for easy removal with a punch. Gradually loosen the shank to relieve spring tension. Instructions are included with the Brownells Ejector Removal Tool.

Disappointing for AR-15 Bolts

I was really disappointed in this tool. One problem is that the handle tip is too small to properly engage the extractor plunger for a 5.56 mm bolt face. Tool handle tip is 0.310 and the i.d. of a 5.56 mm bolt face is 0.380. As such, the tool tip just barely engages the edge of the extractor plunger. Because of this the plunger is not pushed straight back, but at an angle causing it to jam. The large bolt face adaptor is 0.4165 and is too large to fit a 5.56 mm bolt. Another problem arises when reassembling the bolt. Because the tool tip rotates while depressing the extractor plunger, it also rotates the plunger causing it to misalign with the retaining pin, making pin insertion impossible. I had to resort to the tried and true method of a gun vise and drift punch. I was hoping this tool would make things easy. Brownells could solve this problem by supplying another bolt face adaptor that is 0.380 in diameter.

Quality Control lack of...

Good idea...but lacks quality control. Unit does not seem to have any quality control performed or some would call Final inspections of the device after it is plated/Coated/Anodized. Unit will not screw together due to coatings on threads. Not recommended unless you by chance get a good one.
