AR-15 RETRO FURNITURE SETS

AR-15 RETRO FURNITURE SETS Reviews & Ratings

Recreate an American Classic with the Brownells M16A1 Furniture Kits, built to accurately replicate the original Stock issued to thousands of American servicemen & women. The included M16A1 style buttstock, handguard and pistol grip are modeled off of original components, designed to bring affordable, original type gear back to market. There is surplus available, but these parts are continuing to dry up and the quality is often quite poor. Excellent condition items are getting quite expensive. With these furniture kits, you can outfit your favorite Retro rifle in the proper stylings of the period.

Available in several different colors including:

  • Black - Proper for Model 602, XM16E1, M16A1 & later generation rifles introduced after 1963
  • Green - Proper for early Model 601 rifles, the first AR-15 adopted by the US Air Force in 1959
  • Brown - Similar to the earliest AR-15 Prototype rifle furniture used in the late 1950s

Retro furniture from Brownells is not an exact copy of original components or their construction. Some areas have been changed due to manufacturing methods or to avoid counterfeit concerns.

Bad fit
I ordered a triangle retro handguard, which I had ordered them in the past from here. But this time the fit was terrible, I probably won't order this item again from Brownell's. The two halfs did not mate up properly and there is a gap in between them, I hope I can do a little trimming and make them fit better.

Lemon!
Stock was purchased for an early m16 clone. I was shocked by what showed up. The buttstock was not that bad, but the hand guard was total and complete garbage, not even fit for a nonfiring replica. Brownells needs to pull these ASAP and start over.

Absolutely not a "drop in" set of parts.
First off, the grip: the hole for the safety spring is too shallow to allow proper functioning of the safety lever. It's lacks about 1/8" inch of depth compared to the standard grip. I'll have to drill it deeper to make it work. Second, the stock is made very cheaply and bends fairly easily. Third: the screw that holds the buttplate on came with a white substance on the threads (I'm assuming some type of thread tightening substance) that makes it impossible to securely fix the buttstock to the lower receiver. I tried for an hour trying to scrub that white substance off with a bronze brush but could not get enough off of the threads to make it screw in far enough to tighten up the buttstock, the slot in the screw was significantly marred by trying to torque the screwdriver enough to get it tight. No luck, the buttplate was loose and allowed the entire buttstock to come loose from the receiver and the safety spring would jump out. Absolutely not a "drop in" set of parts. I wish I could get a refund. Very disappointed. I wish there was a zero star rating.

Low quality
Received set today, and put them on retro m16a1 build. It made of low quality material compares to original. Also. There are little gaps when you put together handguard. Out side of handguard,. There are dent or melted marks.. overall disappointed. I may need to order original used one with good quality.
