Easy installation, great bluing.
Bought this to install on a Winchester 94 from 1968. I was worried the bluing would look too nice for this well used and loved rifle. It looked perfect!

Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Perfect!
Slides on with perfect tension. Also looks very good.
High quality sight hood
I read the other reviews about poor quality, and was surprised until I noticed the posting date. I just put one on that I cannot tell any difference between it and another rifle with a factory one from 1952. I can only assume that the quality has come way up. I would recommend this part is interchangeable with Winchesters sight hoods.
As described; Fit & finish quite good
This replaced a long lost original and seems to be very close to it in fit and finish. The fit is on the snug side but it wont fall off. The previous observation about its low ceiling may be valid. A little more space over the top of the standard .312 high Williams Firesight would be a plus. However, the protection and shading provided make this a worthwhile replacement. Works well.
Sight Hood
This sight hood has good fit and finish. It allows me to shoot my carbines with out optics as it aids in providing a good sight picture. Additionally, it provides protection for my front sights and adds a novel flare to the look of my guns without a big expense at a gunsmith shop!
Not bad
These appear to be hot rolled steel and therefore are a little scaly and not very smooth. I put them on a belt sander and ground the blunt end to a angle so both ends look the same then sanded with 400 grit sandpaper, warmed, and dipped in oxpho-blue then burnished with fine steelwool. They look good enough to be original.
It's okay
It fits. I'm not sure what part the other reviewers got, but this is far from being asthetically pleasing, or a "good finish". The part was never polished before blueing, it is a dull grey at best, which will never match any model 94 I've ever seen. So in addition to buying the part, dipping it in some bluing is required as well.
Too small
This product is too small for the post 64 1894 , it just barely fits over the sight .its half the size of the original sight .
Just Don't
This hood looks like it came out of the bottom of a used parts box. You can plan on spending time making it look decent. It is also a very tight fit on the ramp: hammer time. This is the first time I've given a Brownells' product a bad review. Find a used hood instead.
Disappointing
This hood does indeed fit pre '64 model 94 Winchester carbine ramp grooves, and Brownell's does provide the Galazan specs.online. Original hoods are longer ,but the problem is the Galazan .5 inch ht. vs. the original hoods ht. of approx. .565 inch . If the ramp has a front dovetail sight taller than say .270 the bead has less than desirable clearance from the Galazan hoods "ceiling". This too short product fails to allow a good sight picture w/many factory installed Winchester front sights. Now the shooter may have to re zero after installing a shorter front $ight.
