best front sight for my Marlin
I've tried four front sights with an aperture rear sight on my Marlin 1894c: - original brass colored bead - Skinner black post - Marbles fiber optic - XS.... Of them all, I've found that the XS sight gives me the best precision and is second only to the fiber optic in visibility. It also has clean lines that don't detract from a lever-gun's appearance (a fiber optic doesn't quite look right on an old-school gun). And I like how only the post/blade itself extends above the dovetail slot, so there is nothing else cluttering up the sight picture. My only complaint is that it was not a snug fit in the dovetail slot, and slide in and out way to easily. I ended up using tread lock to keep it in place.
