Speed up the restoration of that classic shotgun or rifle by replacing a worn, chipped, or cracked buttplate with an affordable, grind-to-fit replacement of moldable polyurethane resin. Durable resin looks and feels like the hard rubber, Bakelite, or black plastic used for the original buttplates on many of these guns, and will not shrink, swell, or crack over time. Proprietary molding process uses the highest-quality molds engineered to prevent unsightly “flash” and air bubbles on the finished product. Grinds easily without flaking or fracturing. Includes fine-line, horizontal serrations often found on period buttplates, but without the tricky borders that make grinding the sides difficult. Heat briefly in boiling water or microwave to soften the resin so it can be molded to the contour of your stock; the shape sets up well once cooled and is extremely durable. Drilled and counterbored to accept two #12 buttplate screws, available separately.

Unexpected color

I would have liked them to be a little flatter on the stock side, but otherwise these are very nice plates. What surprised me was the color and shape of the fragments when I sanded them to size. Purple. Thread-like. And the smell was reminiscent of insecticide solution. I have no idea what the polymer is, or the additives, but the outcome after polishing is outstanding.

Great product

It's the best some small fitting my be needed but it is so easy and self explained

Yes, you need to grind to fit. This also makes it versital, will fit many stocks. It is thick and solid and looks authentic to the single shot shotgun, in this case. Will keep buying them.

a good product, serves it's purpose

This butt plate was easy to grind to fit. After fitting it looked good. However, it would be an improvement if it were made with only one screw hole drilled in the plate. When the holes don't line up it requires more work to the stock, than would be necessary if you were drilling a second hole in the plate. Transfering a hole location is not difficult. The plate material is a little soft, a slightly harder durameter plastic would scratch less. I think this part is expensive for what it is. When ordering get the larger size.

excellent product!

Ive used the universal buttplate in several sizes for various projects. without fail it satisfies my needs for low cost and high quality. the only reason i gave it 4 stars vs 5 was the materials its made of is very easy to scratch and damage after fitting is complete. it needs to made of slightly harder material, but works exceent as is.
