Quality , was worth the money
Used my buddys and had to order one, the micrometer model makes it easy to adjust your length and save your settings for each case, it also is the best way to hold your cases perpendicular to the cutter and no pilots needed. Might need to hook up a electric motor for larger quantities but 100 rounds is fine for the hand crank. Very excellent machining and fit of parts and I know with 50 years of machining experience.
Simple yet Elegent
I have looked at and tried several name brands of trimmers, both powered and hand. The quality and the workmanship of the Sinclair/Wilson is without equal. The price is in line with the workmanship/material. The alignment is solid and does not vary, so much better than pilots and bushings. The cases are held firmly without fear of damage or having the case to become loose. The only downside is that I did not buy one sooner.
The best manual case trimmer out there
I was hesitant at first about spending almost $200 on a trimmer and holder. However, this tool has completely exceeded my expectations. They really do not make tools like this anymore; the form, fit, and function is outstanding. It was very easy to set up, and I didn't have any issues with the micrometer as others have. It came from the factory perfectly adjusted, and is extremely consistent. Reloading is a science, and this trimmer allows you to remove trim length as one independent variable. This tool is probably not ideal for high volume loading but is perfectly suited for anyone seeking precision.
The best manual bottleneck cart trimmer
I've trimmed to length, well over one thousand bottleneck magnum and standard rifle cartridges. After about 600 trims, the cutter seemed to dull a bit (Lake City once-fired brass is extremely hard!) so I purchased the Sinclair carbide cutter. It's been smooth sailing ever since!!! That carbide cutter is excellent!! I've had no problems with the micrometer, it is very consistent. Remember to tighten the lock before trimming. I've had to stop and ream the rims on cases that required excessive trimming because the buildup was slowing the trimming process. Case doesn't need to be removed from the holder when that is case, just lock it back in and finish the trim.
Perfection
Turned to 1.55" and boom 6BR is getting trimmed to an exact 1.55". Easy and flawless.
Why did I wait?
This trimmer is expensive but more than worth the price. Purchased on sale, the ultimate trimmer, base, and shark fin holder was less than the trimmer alone, so I took the plunge. I could not be more happy with the purchase. Micrometer adjustments are exact, did not have to make any adjustments or "re-zero" out of the box. The manual crank is smooth as butter and little effort is required to trim cases to length. Trim is very consistent and square to the case mouth. The black base is sturdy enough that I don't need to clamp it to my bench. I have trimmed a batch of once fired .260rem cases. All cases were cut exactly to my set point, no deviation or "wobble" micrometer adjustments were true, and verified with a caliper for proper length. The cut is smooth an effortless, so much better than my previous manual trimmer. I should have purchased long ago.
Excellent Product
This is the best manual trimmer i have ever seen. I really like the micrometer. This is a very classy machine. It is fast enough.
Excellent Trimmer
I upgraded to this trimmer from an earlier model Sinclair trimmer. The micrometer spindle provides an accurate length measurement and is easily adjustable. The wide base is stable and does not require clamping to the bench. The shark fin clamp secures the case holder on the trimmer very well. I especially like the tapping block to seat and remove the case from the holder.
Awesome trimmer
As others have said, micrometer has a bit of drift to it, if you turn in too far and have to back out it lags a couple of hairs. Easy solution though, I found on mine as long as I turn it in to the exact measurement I want it works every time, so now when I reset I make sure to back out the micrometer well past what I'm setting up for and then turn in precisely to my cut. So far has worked every time and cuts very well. As with everything consistency is the key, that and measure everything. Love the tray that comes with the everything kit too, hold all my shellholder and my case gauges (which occasionally I am guilty of using when I'm on the couch trimming and I dont want to get my calipers). Measure of how well the trimmer works though that once you get used to it you can get away from the calipers for a little bit.
The best manual trimmer available
While it was confusing at first trying to determine which case holders were needed for the calibers I reload, it's worth the effort. This trimmer is a precision tool. As such, you may not need it. But if you like a nice square trim that is the same every time this one can't be beat. Rifle calibers I trim on this trimmer include: 7mm08, 308, 7mmRM, 300WSM, 30-06, 375H&H. Pistol calibers I trim are: 357 Mag, 41 Mag, 44 Mag, 45 Colt, 454 Casull, 460 S&W Mag. To trim the pistol cartridges, use the crossbar style holders and not the arbor press type. WILSON sells both so make sure you get the right ones. You also cannot use the shark fin with the pistol holders because it gets in the way of the crossbar that the pistol holders use to keep the cases in tight. Simply remove it to trim pistol brass and put it back when your done. Believe it or not, once you get the hang of using this trimmer, it's as fast or faster than my RCBS was and the results are so much better. Get one.
