Great kit
My first time I bought and used this kit, I looked over the instructions and went with that, I re-did the stock on 22 and was amazed, if stain is to dark just add a lil water until you get it where you want, I used a swab and applied and then came back with a damp spounge and blend the stain, if not what I wanted I applied more, the tru-oil is amazing I've bought 3 more bottles, I use on my selfbows, axe handles, knife handles, walking sticks and coffee table, just follow the instructions that comes with kit and it will come to ya, I wish they sold the stain separately in bigger container...you can't go wrong with this kit... I added the 22 I re-did and a marlin 60 22 and a old HnR 12, that 12 guage stock was sanded, and then just used tru- oil, no stain that's the color of wood...

Great kit, good amounts of everything.
Refinished two old 22 rifles with the contents (plus some extra sand paper). The tru-oil was/is excellent and does a great job sealing the stock, as well as results in a perfect finish with a little elbow grease and patience. The walnut stain was not so great, but I have limited experience with water based stains. After multiple applications at varying strengths on an old Savage #3, finishing at full strength and on the light wood of that rifle it looked more maple-ish. The tru-oil has a bit of a smell, but nothing requiring a vent hood or respirator. Great kit!

Perfect Finish
This kit can make a 1st time re-finisher look like a pro with 30yrs of experience! I used this kit on a Stevens model 86c bolt action .22 built in 1943. This kit works so easy and so well, that what looked like an old 50 cent stock now looks like a million bucks! I am restoring for sentimental reasons as this was my dad's 1st gun! Going to give it to mom for Christmas and Birchwood Casey is the way to go!

great Stuff first time user.
This was the first time I Finished a stock and it went very well. The Instructions could use some work I just went with what I knew and tossed the book after a few minute of pulling hair out. It take about 3 days for a nice outcome....My only other problem is I ran out of sandpaper so grab some before you start and all different grits it will save you some trouble when you have to touch it up.
