What Reviewers Are Saying
Effectiveness
70%
Many users report that the TORNADO BRUSHES excel in cleaning specific gun components like revolver cylinders and shotgun barrels, particularly for removing lead and wax residues. However, a portion of reviews indicate they fall short in standard bore cleaning, leading to divided opinions on their overall cleaning effectiveness.
Durability
40%
Several reviewers express concerns regarding the brush's longevity, noting that after a few uses, the brushes show signs of wear, with spiral windings coming undone. This raises doubts about the product's durability and suitability for frequent use in cleaning applications.
Specific Use Cases
60%
The TORNADO BRUSHES are particularly recommended for certain applications, like cleaning revolver cylinders after shooting or clearing wax from shotgun barrels. Users emphasize that while they perform admirably in these areas, they are not suitable for all cleaning tasks, notably traditional bore scrubbing.
User Handling
50%
Proper usage is essential for optimal performance; many users highlight the importance of handling techniques, such as not twisting the brush to avoid collapse. This suggests that user education on appropriate handling is vital for getting the most out of these brushes.
Disappointment with General Cleaning
30%
A number of users express disappointment when trying to use TORNADO BRUSHES for standard bore cleaning, suggesting they may not meet the expectations for all cleaning scenarios. This dissatisfaction can impact the overall perception of the product among those who require a versatile brush.

great product - if used correcly
When used correctly, it works wonders. I use it in my .357 revolver to clean the chambers after shooting a lot of .38 Specials. This brush does a great job of removing the lead and crud so if needed, I could chamber a .357. The secret is don't twist the brush - just in and out. If twisted, the brush collapses and becomes useless. It is made of stainless steel, so I would personally never use it to clean the barrel.

Works great on a ported shotgun
This works great on ported shotgun and chokes.

Excellent for cylinder cleaning
After ruining several traditional bore bushes, using JB compound, Bore-tech eliminator, etc. I read another review on the Tornado Brush, .38(.357) Cal. and it's use for revolver cylinder cleaning. This bush is very effect, removing fouling where previous attempt/methods failed. I highly recommend for revolver cylinder cleaning.

Great Brush
We shoot Cowboy Fast Draw using wax bullets. We haven't found any other brush that will get wax out of a .45 bore better than this brush. I buy them by the handful to keep in the bag, other shooters are always asking for them.

Works Great!
An excellent brush for cleaning the melted plastic out of a shotgun barrel.

38 Special Cylinder cleaning
I fire in a NJ Police Revolver League and have introduced this brush to all as the best way to quickly clean out your cylinder. Running the brush through a couple times removes almost all burnt powder and leading from the cylinder making loading and reloading a breeze. DO NOT try this in your barrel, cylinder cleaning only. Works great.
3
Light Quick Clean
This brush works well for a quick clean in a lightly soiled barrel. Not for heavy duty cleaning.
2
Not that great
I got this brush for my 45 handguns and was pretty disappointed. The "tornado" design makes for less effective cleaning of the sharps in barrels. Brush is not very durable, after 5 cleanings is showing significant wear and spiral windings are coming undone. Would probably work well in shotgun, but much prefer nylon brushes for guns with sharps/rifling.

Useless
Tried it but not remotely effectice as a standard brush at scrubbing deposits out of the bore. So ineffective, it's going into the recycle bin.
