Thumler’s heavy-duty Model “B” tumbler has a large-capacity drum that easily handles up to 15 lbs. of material for high-volume runs to help you clean a lot of brass fast. Used by serious reloaders, professional gunsmiths, and even industrial manufacturers for a variety of cleaning and polishing operations. The heavy-gauge steel hexagon drum has a rubber lining for ultra-quiet operation. Continuous duty electric motor delivers plenty of power without faltering, even on full-capacity loads, while the built-in circuit overload protection prevents overheating. The Model B is available alone. Never wears out, doesn’t need to be “renewed” like treated organic media, and won’t harm the brass. Stainless steel media (5 lbs.) also available separately.

Great for pistol, not so for 223/5.56

I have been using the Thumbler Model B for about 10 years give or take to reload my 9mm cases for IDPA matches. I use 5# of SS media as suggested, and the cases are shiny and clean in 4 hrs. I can put in a lot of cases and fill it with water and cleaner to about 2" from the top. Terrific unit. The quality is outstanding, truly built for repetitive use and many cases with a very thick rubber liner. A couple drops of oil for each of the motor bearings and you're good to go. But now I've run into a problem when I purchased my new AR-15 and decided to reload those. (.223) The Tumbler mfg says the drum capacity is 15 lbs. I'm supposed to use 5# of SS media, which I do, so the weight now goes to 12.6 lbs, which leaves 2.4 lbs for cartridges and water. Each 223 cartridge weighs 0.2 oz, and I'm reading that others do 200 cartridges. (no way) That would come to 2.5 lbs if my math is correct. And that's without water. Polishing takes about 4 hrs, so we're talking about a lot of time here. There's no way you can do 200 cartridges with this unit and stay under the 15 lb limit. I've always filled this unit up to 2" from the top. This was an expensive unit, but I was reloading 9mm cases, which are a lot smaller. This is going to take a long time., so the point is that if you're going to reload .223 cases, you better get a unit with a higher capacity or it's going to take a l-o-n-g time. I have 3000 to reload, and I'm definitely not looking forward to this. It's marketed as a Rock Polisher, but touted (in most places) as the #1 choice for reloaders. But your satisfaction will depend not on the quality, but on the size (weight) of the cartridge case you're reloading, and the time you're willing to spend if you're using this particular model.

The Best

Undoubtedly the best method for cleaning brass (or other small metallic parts) that I have used. My only complaint is that the original motor was too small. After tumbling for 3 - 4 hours the motor was "smoking" hot. Since replacing the motor I'm very satisfied with the product.
