Fantastic purchase for any prepper.
I was extremely skeptical about what would be in the can. I wasn't sure if it would be bacon bits style or if it came raw and had to be cooked, which if you are eating and enemies are nearby you cannot start a fire to cook with. I have nothing to do with brownells other than being a member of brownells because of the purchase I made. that being said let me get a little more into it for you: If you have ever bought bacon from the grocery store that was the "pre-cooked" type not the purely raw type, that is what you get in the can with the wax paper separating portions. You get roughly 3-4 boxes of what you would buy in the grocery store in the tiny can and the bacon is the same size as what you would buy in the grocery store. I don't think the pro's and con's do any justice to products like this so my pro's are it's very light, tastes great straight out of the can, even if you can't microwave or oven cook it more. I used a basic standard folding knife to open the can top, BUT a con is when you open it by knife, it's extremely difficult to pull out the wax paper to get to the bacon because there is so much packed inside the can. Pro, this would feed a family of 4 for what I'd say about 2-3 days. Once opened you would need some type of baggie or can topper simply because the can is not resealable. Another con I would say would be that you have to use a knife or can opener, which the can opener would be impractical to carry as a prepper or in the field, so brownells SHOULD 1: put a pull tab on the can and 2: find a way to make it resealable. Pro, even if you cannot reseal the can, as long as the can is upright I suppose being pre cooked it's not going to affect flavor nor use but it's possible you'd get some grease all over the place in your ruck sack. I hope that helps those who are like me wondering what's actually in it and are skeptical.
