What Reviewers Are Saying
Product Performance
55%
Opinions vary widely on the performance of the spring kit. Some users noted significant improvements in trigger pull and overall revolver operation, while others reported failures in igniting primers and insufficient power to function properly. This inconsistency highlights potential quality control issues with the product.
Installation Challenges
45%
Many reviewers found the installation to be straightforward, taking around 10-15 minutes. However, some experienced difficulties related to the fit of the springs with existing grips and the complexity of aligning tension screws. This reflects a mixed experience among users when it comes to the installation ease.
Compatibility Issues

Several reviews pointed out that the springs might not be compatible with certain models or aftermarket grips, causing additional frustration for users. For those with modified grips, this incompatibility can render the kit useless, leading to a less favorable impression overall.

Great parts
The parts were great, price, easy install, notable difference in the gun trigger. Smoother and lighter.

Wolff Springs
Excellent spring kit.

Easy to Install, needs some modification
This kit came with Wolff springs, and were recommended to me by a couple S&W armorers. I wanted to lighten up the double action on my 44mag 69 combat. This kit did the job, but the tension spring falls into a grove / rib on the main spring. It was not enough tension to get good repeatable primer ignition. Some folks use a longer tension screw, but I took a bunch and flattened the rib of the spring slightly where the tension screw makes contact. This worked perfectly.

L & N Frame Issues with Hammer Spring
I just spoke with Wolff Gunsprings and learned that S&W made a design change on the 686's and N Frame guns that create an issue for the hammer spring. They are working on it now, but in the mean time, the fix is to contact Wolff Gunsprings and have them send you an extra long strain screw (stainless or blue) so that you can increase the weight of the hammer spring needed to detonate primers. Just so you all know when ordering (for now). Mark H. at BenchMark Performance Services LLC

Very pleased
Simply transformed a 629 classic from a heavy 7.5 lb and 12 lb single/double action pull respectively to an absolutely perfect 3.5lb SA /7.5lb DA pull. Just by replacing two springs! Kit comes with the reduced power hammer spring and a choice of a 15, 14 and a 13 lb trigger rebound spring. I used the 13lb rebound spring & the hammer spring and am very pleased with the result. Very easy to install (assuming it isn't the first time you have installed a rebound spring). Positives: Low price, easy install, great result Negatives: None

Easy 10-15 Minute Install
Ordered this for an N-Frame 629. Took about 10-15 minutes to install. Extremely easy to install. Why pay a Gunsmith $150 when there are plenty of online videos to learn how to install.

Relatively easy install, Great results!
Just installed this and it took the single stage pull from a factory 4# 11oz to a smooth 3# 8oz. Double Action pull was originally way too heavy and would not register on my Lyman digital pull scale. After this kit the double action pull was around 10# 8oz. Still heavy but much better than before and much smoother. This was my first time taking down a revolver. It was a little frustrating chasing the rebound spring around the garage but got it done and back together in about 20 mins. This is a 5 or 10 minute job if I had to do it again. Can't wait to take it to the range and try it out.

Another Great Brownells/Wolff Product
I installed these springs in a well-used Model 66. It had a pretty good s/a pull but the d/a was extremely heavy. Now, after installing the springs, and some judicious stoning, it's almost a different gun. Very smooth d/a pull and the s/a didn't suffer either!

Grip screw contacts mainspring
Purchased this kit for a S&W 686 Plus. Had previously installed Pachmayr gripper decelerator grips on the gun. Worked perfectly with stock mainspring. After installing this reduced power mainspring, I cannot reinstall the Pachmayr grips. This mainspring is in the same location the grip screw needs to pass through. The screw contacts the mainspring and will not pass through so it can be tightened in the other half of the grip. I "reformed" the original mainspring to a lighter tension and did not use this reduced power mainspring. Really makes this kit not worth the time or money. Could have just used the reformed original mainspring and purchased a rebound slide spring separately. Maybe this mainspring would work with original S&W grips, but I use decelerator grips on all my revolvers. Won't buy this kit again.

Not the best for N frame
On a large frame 625 this mainspring just won't work.....not enough "punch". With an unaltered strain screw, polished internals, extended firing pin and Federal Primers the mainspring just won't consistently light them up. Great trigger feel, very smooth, but just too light. 15# Rebound spring is perfect with stock mainspring.
