Volquartsen Summit
Bought this to do a semi biathalon inspired build. It is well made and very simple. I completed it with a Victor Titan stock, Angstadt Vanquish ISB, and a Ruger BX trigger. It was fairly easy to complete and anyone with a cursory knowledge of a Ruger 10/22 should have no problems outting it all together.

Love it. Really slick way to change a 10/22 into a bolt action gun.

Perfect for suppressed tack driving fun!
I bought this receiver with the specific intent to use with an integrally suppresses barrel. There is a set of shims included with the receiver that are used to adjust the headspace to the bolt. You need to set the headspace with this receiver because unlike its 10/22 blowback cousin, this bolt is locked in battery when fired. I found that I didnt quite have enough shims when installing my barrel. I emailed Volquartsen directly and they shipped me an additional shim kit free of charge. Setting the headspace is not difficult and a detailed set of instructions are found on Volquartsens web page. I found the fit and finish of the receiver and bolt to be very nice. The rail on top is a generous length and extends a little forward of the receiver, over the barrel. As far as I can tell, it conforms to all 10/22 dimensions. So, building a rifle from Ruger or 3rd party components should be simple. The 10/22 platform has become the tinker toy of 22lr. Shooting subs without the sound of the action cycling reminds me of an air rifle. Except, you can easily hit targets past 100 yards. This is an exceptionally good rifle to teach a new shooter, plink with friends while being able to socialize sans hearing protection (due to integrally suppressed barrel), or small game hunting. I highly recommend this as an addition to anyones collection.
The Perfect Suppressor Host
After I bought a suppressor, I wanted a lightweight, manual cycling, .22 rifle that had compatibility with 10/22 parts. I tried the Ruger American Rimfire, but I never liked the barrel, trigger, and stock options. I was always interested in the toggle style action after watching biathlons, so I decided to just spend the money on a Volquartsen Summit when Brownells got them in stock. It is well worth the high price because of the flexibility to use 10/22 parts. The action is smooth, and much faster than a bolt. It is also unique and an example of what is possible from an engineering and quality viewpoint with todays technology.
Just what i was looking for
Very surprised with the accuracy of this after installing a er shaw target barrel. Does come with v block and hard ware. My only complaint is that there are no instructions on how to install the barrel and on a ruger its very easy but when seeing the barrel shims i looked up from volquartsen's website on how to install the barrel, for proper clearance. From there the shims sent from the factory didn't provide enough clearance between the bolt and the barrel. However after contacting volquartsen, they are sending me some more shims. Customer service is great and and the reciever is alot nicer than expected. Volquartsen makes a great product and their customer service is exceptional. All in all very worth the price, just requires some minor fitting
