Factory mags do drop free
See some reviews that say factory mags don’t drop free. Not sure if something was changed on newer mag releases, but all my factory Glock magazines drop out just the same as they did with the factory catch.
Works an intended
Installed easily. Good fit and finish. Intended specifically for use with S15 magazines and so far it seems to work well for that intended purpose.
Great product
I just want to make this clear. It's designed for the Shield arms mags only, but WILL work with factory mags. They will not be drop free and it does take a small amount of effort to remove them. Not an issue if you are aware of this fact. The gun will still function so don't throw those factory mags away! I tried putting my factory mags in after hearing they would not work. Curiosity proved that rumor to be false. They feed and function perfectly.
Perfect & necessary for Shield Arms Mags
This magazine catch is necessary when using the Shield Arms magazines in a G43x or G48. It is not intended to be used with OEM polymer magazines, as stated in the product description. It is also not recommended to use the factory magazine catch with Shield Arms magazines. Steel magazine, steel magazine catch. Polymer magazine, polymer magazine catch. The Shield Arms magazine catch works perfectly in every Glock I have installed it on.
Shield Arms steel mag catch installation
The Shield Arms steel mag catch was easy enough to install once I ventured to their website and watched the video detailing the installation process. I recommend that you buy the 90 degree pick featured in the video.
Works but...
Will not work with factory mags due to the inside dememtion between the catch and button being too small. The factory mags will not drop free. Either run factory mags with factory catch or SA mags with SA catch
Does not work with OEM Glock Magazines
I installed this in my Glock 43X MOS. The release looks great and works well with Shield Arms steel magazines. However, not only will actual Glock magazines not drop free, it takes a bit of effort to pull out them out. I placed the release on top of a new Glock factory magazine. The inside of the release is a bit narrower than the magazine. Without grinding away some metal, this will never work. I thought perhaps they put a Glock 43 magazine in the wrong package. But it's wider than a 43 release and the same width as a 43X.
