STAINLESS STEEL EXPANDER MANDRELS

STAINLESS STEEL EXPANDER MANDRELS Reviews & Ratings

SINCLAIR STAINLESS STEEL EXPANDER MANDRELS

Our neck turning tool mandrels are made from high grade stainless steel on Precision turning centers. The shape, finish, and size are the result of years of use and experimentation by many hand loaders. All of our mandrels fit both our NT-3000 and NT-1000 neck turning tools and most of our older model neck turning tools. Our neck turning tool mandrels measure approximately about .002'' less than the bullet diameter for the caliber. Our expander mandrels are made .001'' larger than the turning mandrels. Using an expander mandrel prior to neck turning sizes the case to fit the neck turning mandrels perfectly. This correct fit makes the turning process more precise and much easier. Any of the mandrels can be used to ''neck'' cases up to the next caliber when used with the NT-EXP (Expander Body).

Case destroyer
This tool is made of extremely low grade Austenitic stainless steels, it gets scored and gets marked very easily by brass in turn it accumulates brass and scores the inside of the cases even with RCBS case lube. This tool has cost me 300 new Lapua match brass. If you need a mandrel get one and take it to your local machine shop and have one made out of mild steel then ask them to temper it. Do not use the one made out of stainless steel, it will cause you huge headaches.

Not Up To The Task
Material far too soft for intended task. Despite the inside of the case necks being properly lubed, the mandrel 'loads' up with case material and galls succeeding case throats. Spend the extra money and purchase the carbide equivalents.

Wrong diameter
Sinclair customer since the early 90s and this is first time I've received a defective product. Ordered the 22cal expander and neck turning mandrels but both are exact same diameter as measured with two different calipers - .222". Painless return process including free shipping but am reluctant to order another for fear it may also be .001" too small. Product is well made, so was either finished to wrong diameter or marked and/or packaged incorrectly. Sad to say I'm sourcing a replacement expander from a competitor.
