SPIRAL FLUTE LONG FORCING CONE REAMER

SPIRAL FLUTE LONG FORCING CONE REAMER Reviews & Ratings

Lengthening the forcing cone area decreases pellet deformation and felt recoil for a dramatic improvement in pattern density, shooting comfort and overall shotgun performance. Custom-made reamers with five, spiral flutes increase the cutting surface area for a smooth, chatter-free cut on all types of barrel steel. Do not use on chrome lined bores. Hex-drive shank allows the use of a standard square drive socket and T-handle.

SPECS:
Tool steel, five flute, spiral cut, 6" (15cm) long, 1"(2.5cm) long hex section.

Great reamer
Have used it in two old shotguns, a single shot and a double barrel. Reamer cuts very easy and smooth, make sure you follow Brownells instructions. Clean chips off often and keep well oiled. Used a tap handle I modified to fit the reamer which made it easy to control the cut. Have three more old shotguns to do yet. Kept checking with a chamber gauge often until I reached the proper depth.

nice tool
Reamer works great, I used a 3/8 drive ratchet with 1/2 socket to turn the tool. Barrel vertical in barrel vise lots of cutting oil and clean chips off tool often and easy enough to do. I used a chamber gauge , to know the depth i was cutting, and was able to lengthen chamber with this tool as well. Did two barrels so far Winchester 97 and model 12 with a nickel barrel. I sanded and polished the forcing cones after lengthening and the results look like it was done from the factory.
