Site Paint
Site Kote works really well and it very easy to use. One drop and I was done. let it dry overnight and it was good to go. I am interested to see how long it lasts.
Good Product if you use it right
This product is great for us older shooters, it is really bright ! Apply one drop at a time with sight level to the Site Coat, and then spread it around with a straight pin or a toothpick. As for those who have said it drys out and will not mix when you shake it, if the shaker ball does move around , open the top of the bottle, use a small screwdriver to mix the paint a little, then the ball should be loose, and you can shake it, and hear the ball rattle. My first bottle lasted several years, and did MANY sights.
Very White
One of the dots on the rear Novak sight on my 1911 fell out. I really didnt want to replace the sight so I tried some of the sight paints I already had and I also bought one of the sets sold at Brownells, both the glow in the dark and standard sight paint. All were difficult to apply and typically took 24 hours to dry. One even suggested to protect the paint by applying clear fingernail polish. The truth is none of them were bright enough to see well enough except in direct sunlight. Eventually I ended up removing all the dots and was ready to purchase new front and rear sights. Then I saw the Site Kote for a very reasonable price and thought it was worth a try. Sure glad I did! Make sure the sight is very clean. I used Brake Clean first to make sure all oil and dirt was eliminated. Then used 99% pure isopropyl alcohol just to make sure. Shake the bottle well and let sit for a few minutes to let any bubbles come to the surface. The bottle comes with a metal applicator tip and is perfect for allowing a very small drop to be applied to the recessed dots on both the front a rear sights. This stuff dries quickly and I was shooting about an hour later. After about a 2 hour session and 150 rounds later the paint was still bright white and looked like the original Novak three dot sight system. The best features about this product is that it is bright white, stays put and is easy to apply. If youre looking for paint to glow in the dark on night sights, this is the wrong product. If youre looking to do some touching up or change to a new color, this is what you want. Even better if youre an Edge member and dont have to pay shipping.
KG SITE KOTE
Finally a good consistent easy to apply sight paint that does not run and it tough. Can be removed or touched up if needed. Jim
Works Great
Wasn't sure what to do about getting easier to see sights for my Berreta Model 96. Decided to use this stuff last night, it was easy to apply and looks great. It is very bright white and should be used against black to allow to pop nicely.
Great Product
I have used this on about every gun that has an older type steel sights, . I even used it on my 1942 P 08 Luger as it can be removed without a lot of trouble. This makes old gun sights easy to see for us that are over 50. As only the front sight is painted, it will probably paint 25 guns. The applicator is like a needle so there are no brush marks made. I have had some for 1+ years and it is still good (not dried up) but a "friend" did not return it so I am ordering more.
Works Great So Far...
I bought this Bright Orange Site Kote Paint to put on the Front Sights of My Marlin 39A and Henry H001T Frontier. This Stuff has worked great for me on these 2 guns. I got it about 3 month's ago,, so we'll see if it drie's out,, but so far,, it's good. It does take a lot of shakeing though to mix it up well before applying. However It didn't take much prep for me. I just wiped the Front Site Bead with a Dry Cotton Patch and put the paint on. The Needle Nose Applicator make's it really easy to pinpoint accuracy as well. It did come off once while cleaning the 39A,, but I expected that. Just put some more back on,, and the great thing about this product,, is that it only take's an hour to dry. I'll be putting this stuff on all my Rifle's Front Sight's. I would have given it 5 Stars,, but haven't had it long enough to see if it dries out,, like the other's have said. However I make Sure that I put the Cap Back On ASAP, YMMV, Joe
Bright while wet, dingy when dry
The applicator works well. The paint is bright orange, but only while wet. Once it dries, it becomes MUCH duller. Tried 6 coats and still dull. Tried stripping down to the steel again, putting down a white paint primer and then several coats of the SITE KOTE. It is still very dull (not bright) orange. Very disappointed.
Somewhat Lacking...
Not understanding why this is listed under "New Products" ? Bought the green a few years ago and while it adhered to the aftermarket steel front sight on a Glock 34 the "Neon" or even just a more visible color really was no better (actually not as good) as the white paint in Novak's front sights they've been offering for years ! Also, loaned the paint to a friend without predujusting him and he had similar results. Really too bad as Photoluminescent paint on tritium pistol sight seems all the rage recently !
