An awesome rest
I never owned a rest before therefore I was somewhat confused on whether to purchase a cheeper brand, the Sinclair lightweight or the Sinclair heavy varmint rest. I decided on the heavy varmint with the top that uses the Owl bags. I made the right choice as this rest is awesome. Workmanship is outstanding and it adjusts and functions like a well designed precision machine. A very solid rest that should last a life time. Was worried about it being to heavy for casual and non-competitive bench shooting, but for me it is just right. I wouldn't want a lighter rest. If your an average guy looking for a quality rest get one of these. You get what you pay for and it's made in USA. I do not shoot benchrest competition but I see no reason why this rest wouldn't work for that as it does not move. The 1/2" spiked feet do there job. I can't say one thing bad about this rest.
Very Impressed
To me this item rates a 10. Being in manufacturing for over forty years I feel comfortable in saying that I know quality and this item is it. I am very impressed with the choice of materials and the quality of manufacture. It's rock solid and a fine example of American craftsmanship. One would be hard pressed to do better. Sinclair's Customer Service deserves a hand as well. I didn't check "Accurate" as we all know it takes more than just a solid rest to be such, still opportunity for human error. I'd didn't check "Lightweight" either as it certainly isn't. Would have checked "Perfect" though if the choice was there :)
Sinclair Does It Again
I purchased the Sinclair Heavy Varmint Rest because I own a Sinclair Competition Shooting Rest. The former was so well built, that I was confident that Sinclair would put the same quality of workmanship into this model. I was not disappointed by Sinclair. The Heavy Varmint Rest is well built and as sturdy as the Competition model. Craftsmanship is built into this model too. I love shooting this model on my portable shooting bench without the worries that it is too heavy for the bench. I can take this rest with my bench and transport it on my UTV at my brother's farm and shoot for hours with great accuracy. Love the simplicity of the Heavy Varmint Rest and it's ability to keep it's adjustments once set. Thanks again Sinclair for such a great rest.

right side adjustment screw
The adjustment screw on the right side does nothing. It is supposed to be used for fine adjustment. The instructions are kind of vague.
